The Deep Learning Approach: Its Potential and Challenges in Indonesian Education
Keywords:
deep learning, reflection, authentic assessment, curriculum, implementation strategyAbstract
This article examines the deep learning approach as a pedagogical strategy relevant to addressing various educational challenges. Although this approach has been introduced through national policies such as the Merdeka Curriculum, its implementation in schools still reveals a significant gap. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential, challenges, and implementation strategies of deep learning in the Indonesian education context. This research adopts a literature review method using narrative synthesis analysis based on relevant national and international references. The findings indicate that this approach enhances student engagement, encourages reflective learning, and strengthens the use of authentic assessment. However, challenges arise from limited teacher understanding, a hierarchical learning culture, and inadequate infrastructure. This study proposes implementation strategies that emphasize teacher reflection, pedagogical autonomy, and localization of learning contexts. The main contribution of this article lies in systematically mapping the challenges and offering contextual solutions for implementing deep learning in Indonesia.
